Speed hump installation starts on Florida Road

Work on 10 speed humps has started in Florida Road, and work is expected to take two weeks to complete.

MOTORISTS are urged to be aware of road works on Florida Road.

Work on 10 speed humps have started today (Tuesday, 7 February), starting with signage installation and road preparation.

According to Jarrod Evans from the Florida Road UIP, the project is expected to take at least two weeks to complete and will be phased, starting with Sandile Thusi to Gordon Road and then Gordon to Innes Road.

“Lane closures will occur and traffic will be affected, so please be patient and remember that the end goal will make a huge difference to safety and pedestrian-usability on the road,” he said.

In September last year the community called for speed calming measures, after a young girl was killed on the busy road.
