What’s on at the movies this Friday

There are four new movies hitting our cinema screens this weekend.

RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER

Run Time: 105 Minutes

This is Alice’s last stand against the Umbrella Corporation and, as a fanboy of the series, I am really hoping that this final chapter does the film series justice.

Milla Jovovich reprises her role as the action hero and wakes up in a ruined White House – directly after the events of Resident Evil: Retribution. She has no choice but to strike at The Hive before all of humanity is wiped from the face of the planet.
RINGS

Run Time: 102 Minutes

A young woman’s boyfriend delves into the mystery surrounding a deadly videotape that is said to kill the viewer seven days later. She sacrifices herself to save him but uncovers a dark truth in the process.

THE SPACE BETWEEN US

Run Time: 120 Minutes

This sci-fi film follows the life of the first child born on Mars and his growing online relationship with a girl on Earth.

LIVE BY NIGHT

Run Time: 129 Minutes

Joe Coughlin, the son of a Boston Police superintendent, gave up his law-abiding upbringing in favour of the spoils of being an outlaw.

The film is set during the roaring 20s – in the midst of the Prohibition. This hasn’t stopped the flow of booze in an underground network of gangster-run speakeasies. Joe is a man with ambition and nerve and sees this as an opportunity to gain money and power.

Even among criminals there are rules and Joe breaks one of these and crosses a mob boss and steals his money.
