Donate plastic bottles for poppy project

Plastic bottles will be made into poppies, and the remainder will be recycled to make school desks for the underprivileged.

TAKE your used plastic bottles to a drop-off zone at Bike and Bean on the Durban beachfront, and help the SA Legion in one of its projects for this year.

The SA Legion is collecting plastic bottles of all sizes (500ml, one litre and two litre) which will be cut down by learners from Peter Pan School in Pietermaritzburg to make poppies.

“We need to make about 20 000 poppies, so we need lots of bottles! The balance of the plastic from the bottles will be donated to a charity which recycles the plastic to make school desks for underprivileged schools,” said Johann Kruger from the SA Legion.

He encouraged Durbanites to support this project, and to go down to Bike and Bean to donate the bottles, and enjoy a cup of coffee at the same time!
