Hammer gang strikes again

Hammer gang hits jewellery store

POLICE have made no arrests after a gang of men, armed with hammers and crowbars, robbed a jewellery shop at the Hilton Hotel. The gang, all of whom wore balaclavas and gloves, smashed their way through the store window in the early hours of Sunday.

Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said a group of six or seven suspects entered the hotel and held the security at gunpoint.

“They allegedly broke a glass where the jewellery was on display and took jewellery to the value of more than R3-million. The suspects fled the scene in a getaway vehicle. The Durban Central Police station is investigating.” he said

This is the third attack in a month by men using the same modus operandi in Durban.
