Motorists urged to drive with care

Motorists are urged to drive with care following a number of road crashes over the holiday season.

MOTORISTS are urged to be extra cautious on the roads as holidaymakers make their way to the coast for New Year celebrations.

Law enforcement officers will be on the lookout for drunk drivers, unroadworthy vehicles and people not wearing seatbelts. There will be  a strong presence of SAPS and Metro Police across the city this weekend and motorists are warned that enforcement officers will have zero tolerance for drunk driving.

The holiday period has already seen its fair share of road crashes and rescue services have been kept busy attending to a number of incidents.

Last night, (Friday 30 December), Rescue Care paramedics attended to a collision at the intersection of Stanger and Atrgyle Roads in which four people were injured, two of them children.

On Saturday morning, 31 December, a number of people were injured in a collision at the corner of West and Prince Alfred Streets in the city CBD.
