Police target drunk drivers

Metro Police and law enforcement officers have warned that there will be massive roadblocks across the city this weekend where drunk drivers will be targeted.

METRO Police have been out in force over the past two weekends and drunk drivers have paid the price. According the Metro Police’s Sbonelo Mchunu, more than 40 drunk drivers were arrested during enforcement operations over each holiday weekend, with 54 drivers arrested for drunk driving on Christmas weekend.

Mchunu said despite the number of arrests, these were in fact less than the arrests made over the same period last year.

Police are gearing up for another massive law enforcement operation in Durban this weekend, and drunk drivers will be their target. One of the major areas that will be policed is the Durban CBD.
