Foundation treats kids to fun day out

"What a way to end an amazing 2016 in which we have hosted over 85 community projects and reached over 20 000 people."

THE Robin Hood Foundation (RHF) recently hosted a HOPE breakfast for orphaned and vulnerable children from disadvantaged communities.

Kim Griffith Jones, co-ordinator of RHF, said: “The aim of this project is to inspire hope in the lives of the young children, aged three to 17, who have suffered devastating loss in their young lives, most of them having lost parents and now being cared for by an older sibling, aunt, neighbour or their aging gogos. We take them out of their dire circumstances for a while, let them play, feel the love from our volunteers and just be children.”

The 50 children were treated to a matinee show of The Wonder Years, a lunch, and sent home arms laden with two brand new school uniforms, toiletries, stationery, towels, blanket, a Gogo bag filled with non-perishable foods, a food bucket with more essentials and their own special Christmas present.

Cindy Norcott, chairlady and founder of RHF, said: “We are so incredibly grateful for all the support for this project! What a way to end an amazing 2016 in which we have hosted over 85 community projects and reached over 20 000 people, thanks to the wonderful community support we receive. This HOPE project was the highlight of my year. This is what Christmas is all about!”
