Seniors enjoy year-end festivities
Senior citizens enjoyed their annual year-end function hosted by Councillor Chris Pappas on Thursday.
THERE were smiles all round on Thursday, 22 December when Councillor Chris Pappas hosted the annual senior citizens year-end function at the Tills Crescent Sports Ground in Sydenham. The function was previously held in Berea Park. “I will move the event every year so that everyone in our community has an opportunity,” said Pappas.
Pappas said the event was a great success and everything had run smoothly. “I was only disappointed that the ward committee members from Musgrave and Overport did not show any interest in the event or offer their help,” he said.
Senior citizens were treated to music by Sam Marias and Kate Vink while enjoying a chicken briyani lunch. “Thank you to everyone who made the day possible, the volunteers and my assistant Remona who helped tremendously,” he said.
