Appeal for caution on roads as festive season begins

Emergency services call on motorists to be cautious on the roads after five people were injured in a multi vehicle pile up early this morning.

EMERGENCY services have appealed to motorists to apply extra caution on roads as the festive season officially begins in Durban this weekend.

According to Garrith Jamieson director of Reacue Care, paramedics have had their hands full attending to crash scenes from early this Reconciliation Day morning.

“Five people were injured, one critically so after three vehicles collided at the corner of (Argyle) Road and Brickhill Road around 5.30 this morning,” he said.

Paramedics found the three badly damaged vehicles and discovered that a passenger in one of the vehicles had sustained critical injuries.  Advanced Life Support paramedics placed the man on a manual ventilator before transporting him to hospital for urgent medical care.

A further four people sustained various injuries and they were  stabilised  before being transported to hospitals
