Truck ploughs through Umbilo building

A TRUCK  crashed through a business premises on Sarnia Road near Fenniscowles in Umbilo this afternoon.

According to Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson, paramedics found the truck had smashed through a shop wall before colliding with a stationary vehicle and coming to rest against a building. “The  shopowner was entrapped by the broken concrete and pinned against the wall. Advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the man on scene before carefully removing the rubble off him,” he said.

Jamieson said an employee of the business was also injured when he was struck by the truck as it crashed through the wall. The truck driver also sustained minor injuries.

All three patients were taken to hospital.

The cause of the crash is not known.
