UMBILO police recovered a firearm and seven live rounds while on patrol on Che Guevara (Moore) Road on Friday.
According to Captain Pumzile Makaula, communications officer at Umbilo, the crime prevention team was on patrol when officers noticed two suspicious men.
“When the officers stopped to park their vehicle, the two suspects ran away but were caught and searched. One suspect had a firearm with seven live rounds in it and was arrested. We commend Constable Dlamini and Warrant Officer Rampersadh whose crime prevention efforts saw a suspect arrested and a firearm recovered, ” she explained.
Makaula said Umbilo SAPS had increased patrols in the area.
