Eden College learners’ poems published in anthology

A learner from Eden College was runner-up in an Afrikaans poetry writing competition.

LEARNERS throughout the province who entered an Afrikaans poetry competition for KZN schools discovered who the winners of the competition were at a lunch at the Quarterdeck Point Yach Club recently. 

Each learner had to write three poems based on prescribed topics. The poems were reviewed by Prof Marius Crous and were published as an anthology. 
The first prize was R10 000 and there were three runner-up prizes of R2 500 each.

Every participant received a copy of the poetry book while Tyrell Pillay from Eden College Durban, who was the only non-Afrikaans speaker, received R2 500 runner-up prize.. 
Other prizewinners were from Port Natal and Gelofte school.
