THE Botanical Society of South Africa KZN Coastal Branch presents an illustrated presentation by Dr Andrew Mather on coastal land and sea level rise on Monday, 31 October at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre at 6pm.
The talk will focus on the state of sea level in this region as well as the implications for coastal land and properties along the eThekwini coastline.
Dr Mather is the project executive of the Coastal Policy for eThekwini Municipality. He is the chair of the eThekwini Coastal Committee and representative on the National Coastal Committee. He is a member of the Indian Ocean Observatory and was an expert reviewer of the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report (Oceans and low lying areas chapter).
All welcome. Entrance including refreshments is R40 for members of BotSoc and the Friends of Durban Botanic Gardens, R60 for visitors, and R30 for students with cards. Pay at the door. Proceeds will go to BotSoc branch projects.
