HOP Shop opens in Glenwood

An exciting new second-hand shop, the HOP Shop, opened in Glenwood as a project of NPO Likhon iThemba.

THE HOP Shop opened at 117 Davenport Road, Glenwood on Monday, following a lot of hard work to get the shop cleaned, painted and looking great.

This shop is a fundraising initiative of Likhon iThemba – a charity that runs the HOLAH Baby House as well as a feeding scheme, BOP (Bowl of Plenty).

Kim Brown, co-founder, said, “We have set up our second-hand shop to become a self-sustainable NPO. We still use whatever donations we are given for HOLAH and BOP, but the rest we will clean up and sell in the shop. This will help us to cover the charity overheads and hopefully in the future enable us to start new projects.”

The shop is full of interesting goodies, ranging from baby clothes, toys, shoes and other items, as well as books, clothes, shoes, houseware and more.

Kim and Leanne Lorrance, co-founder of Likhon iThemba, thanked everyone who donated items to sell in the second-hand shop.

“We really appreciate the generosity. We are still collecting more items all the time, and if the community has anything they want to drop off, or if you want us to collect, we are always grateful,” said Kim.

Donations of furniture, bric a brac, jewellery, clothes (baby, children’s and adult’s), children’s items, arts and crafts, household items, garden tools, plants, and anything else you may have no use for, are needed.

“All money raised at the shop goes back into our charity to look after abandoned babies as well as to assist families in need and creches in KZN,” said Kim.
