Durban Central Family Violence, Child and Sexual Offence Unit appeals to the community to assist in identifying two men who may be able to help solve a rape and robbery case.

DURBAN Central Family, Violence, Child and Sexual Offence Unit is appealing to the public to assist them with their investigation into a rape and robbery case.

According to Constable Zanele Khomo, the crime related to an incident where a 22-year-old victim was raped in a taxi on the evening of Monday, 1 August. “It is alleged the victim was alone inside a white Quantum taxi near Field Street with the taxi conductor and driver who drove the taxi towards Victor Lane where they parked the vehicle. The driver jumped out of his seat and came to where the victim was seated and the driver then raped the victim while the conductor took her bag containing the cell phone and cash and bank cards,” she explained.

Khomo said the conductor and driver of the taxi kicked the victim out of the taxi and drove off and the victim wasn’t able to see and take the registration number down because it was night.

The first suspect, the driver of the taxi, is approximately 28 to 32 years old, light in complexion, of medium height and slender build with large eyes, ears and was bald.

The second suspect was the conductor of the taxi and is approximately 25 to 27 years old, he is tall with a slender build, dark in complexion, with a big tattoo of a star on the right side of his neck and a cross as well as another tattoo on his right arm.

Durban Central FCS Unit believe the men in the identikit can be of assistance in solving the case.
