Durban hosts givers summit

The Durban Givers Summit will celebrate the heroes that make Durban the home of hope and success.

DESCRIBED as a celebration of philanthropy, the Durban Givers Summit will be on 21 and 22 October at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

This summit is organised by the X Foundation in partnership with eThekwini Municipality, and aims to encourage organisations to help communities in Durban to fight poverty and other social ills that hinder success of many people in the province.

“We want to help the less privileged. The summit is our way of reaching out. It is a means of opening a knowledge-sharing platform for philanthropists, industry experts and the general public. This will ensure sustainability in the world of philanthropy,” said event organiser, Nonkululeko Xulu.

Xulu is a 2015 Inyathelo Philanthropy award recipient for her Umlazi scholar’s support programme.

She added: “There has never been a better time than now to give back to the people of Durban so that the province can progress and grow beyond the current economical, educational and social blockades.”

Exhibition platforms are open to individuals, companies and NGOs who are making or want to be part of the positive change in Durban.
