Point Sector Two AGM

Point police invite interested community members living in the area to attend the Sector Two AGM next Wednesday.

THE Point community is invited to a Sector Two AGM where officer bearers will be elected, on Wednesday, 12 October at Addington Primary School Hall from 2.30pm.

Captain BJ Simelane, communications officer at Point SAPS said the Sector comprises of Rutherford Street, Erskine Terrace, Shepstone Road, Mahatma Gandhi (Point) Road and the seaboard along the Eastern border.

Interested community members are invited Point precinct which includes

“We need a chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, deputy secretary, treasurer, public relations officer and three additional members to maintain a partnership between the Point community and Point SAPS to fulfill the policing needs of the community and promote effective communications between police services and the community,” Simelane said.

The specific aims and objectives for sector policing are to prevent crime, encourage visible and accessible policing by local police officials, improve response time, establish informer networks and bring police service closer to the local community and improve confidence in the police in the community.

The elected office bearers will be bound to a code of conduct as set out in the Point CPF Constitution. The requirements of members are that members of the community police sub forum render the service on a voluntary basis and shall have no claim to compensation for service to the forum, members must must reside or have business interest in Point area’s Sector Two and no person residing in another area maybe a member of the community sub forum.
