Municipality must improve communication, says councillor

Ward councillors say there needs to be more communication between the Water and Roads Departments.

A BROKEN pavement and drain in St Thomas' Road, Musgrave, is just one example of the lack of communication between municipal departments.

So says ward 31 councillor Christopher Pappas, who confirmed that he and fellow councillors Mmabatho Tembe and Martin Meyer, had brought this issue to the attention of the Water Department at a recent meeting.

Pappas said the broken drain and pavement were left in that state following a burst pipe in St Thomas' Road four weeks ago. He said lack of communication between the Water Department and Roads Department were the reason the pavement had not been fixed.

“Every time it rains, the pavement is just going to get worse. There seems to be a missing link in departments, with communication not working sharply. It is not good enough that the road has been fixed but the pavement and drain are still in a state. I will ask the Roads Department to fix the problem urgently,” he said.
