Another poisoned cat dies

A third cat from a colony living in the Old Fort Road area, has died after allegedly ingesting poisoned food.

A cat, which had been left for dead, after suspected poisoning has died. The cat, Bandit, is the third cat to be killed by a suspected cat poisoner operating in the Old Fort Road area.

Volunteer for Cats of Durban, Owen O’Neill found the cat and took her to vet where she was treated but died on Monday.

The cats are believed to have ingested food that had been poisoned with an organophosphate-type substance, commonly found in insecticides. Founder of Cats of Durban,  an organisation that sterilizes and feeds feral cat colonies across Durban, Nikki Moore, said the organisation would name and shame the culprit when the person was found.
