Berea police arrested an armed robber on Musgrave Road on Friday night.

Fence hopper apprehended

A MUSGRAVE man had his electronics returned after a fence hopper attacked him while he was unpacking his car in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to Captain PN Naidoo, communications officer at Berea SAPS, the man was unpacking his car around 2.30am in his yard in Guildford Road. “The victim was busy unpacking his car and while he was in his house, a man jumped over the wall and took some of the victim’s belongings from his car. The security guard noticed what happened and came to his assistance and apprehended the suspect,” explained Naidoo.

Berea police were alerted and the 25-year-old suspect was arrested and charged for theft out of motor vehicle.

Musgrave Road armed robber arrested

A man was lucky to escape unharmed when he was held at gun point by three armed suspects in Musgrave Road, on Friday night. Captain PN Naidoo said the men demanded cash from him. “While the suspects held the man up, the

security guard noticed and called the police who responded quickly, arresting one of the suspects (24) who was charged for armed robbery,” he added.

Take note of these crime awareness tips

Berea police communications officer, Captain PN Naidoo advises the public to try to get clear information on suspects (robbers) to assist the police investigation. “This should not be done at the risk of your life or that of the persons around you.

“Don’t make it obvious that you are observing the robbers, just focus on one person at a time. Gain an overall impression first, height, build, firearm or other weapon. Then, clothing and special features for example a limp, deformities, birthmarks etc

“Then look at details, facial features like round or sharp eyes and remember any names used by the robbers,” he added.

Naidoo said another important detail was taking note of the the vehicle suspects use, always try to get the colour, make and registration numbers.
