Beauty queen hosts fun day

Ntombi Gumede will contest the crown of Mrs Africa in November.

DURBAN beauty queen with substance and Mrs Africa finalist, Ntombi Gumede, (34), will be hosing a children’s fun day, a fundraising charity drive, on 1 October at Bulwer Park.

Ntombi’s love and passion for children is the driving force behind the fun day and funds raised through this charity drive will go to Dignity Dreams, a charity organisation for Mrs Africa.

“Charity to me means giving back to the community not because you expecting anything in return, but because you want to make a difference. Making a difference does not mean you need to change the world, but you can maybe change one person’s life. I also believe that while trying to change the world the world is slowly changing you into a better person,” she said.

Ntombi is the only KZN finalist to make it this far in the Mrs Africa competition. She has been in the modelling industry for quite some time, having started at the age of eight years. She took a break to focus on her studies when she got to high school, and in 2014 Ntombi decided to go back into the modelling industry as a fitness beach bikini model. She’s now in the running to be crowned Mrs Africa in November.

Ntombi owns and runs the first Posh kiddies salon and spa in the north of Durban. “I saw the idea when I travelled to Dubai and I told myself that I’m definitely taking the idea back home with me. If adults can be pampered, why not our little ones? I love transforming the little boys and girls into princes and princesses they always dreamed of being,” she said.

With the support of her husband of five years, Ntombi is able to balance her busy life and her motherly duties.
