Card cloning suspects arrested

Enforce Security investigators in partnership with SAPS made a significant arrest of three notorious criminals for banking fraud, theft, and robbery in the early hours of Friday morning.

ENFORCE Security investigators made another significant arrest of three notorious criminals for banking fraud, theft, and robbery in the early hours of Friday morning, after an organised raid with SAPS.

Two of the three men had been investigated and apprehended by Enforce just six weeks ago for card cloning, fraud, and theft, but were released on bail. After only a few days they picked up their criminal activities.

According to Enforce managing director, Derek Lategan, the suspects are linked to numerous cases and also have previous convictions. However, the case they were arrested on Friday morning was a Berea case of attempted murder, fraud, and theft.

“The men would commit their crimes by swapping people’s cards at ATMS, as well as card cloning, and knocking – which is robbing bank customers once they have drawn, or before depositing, money at the bank. They have been carrying out these crimes all over the greater Durban area, including DurbanNorth, Durban Central, Upper Highway, the south coast down to Toti; literally all over.”

After investigating and tracing the suspects to KwaMashu, Enforce investigators working with SAPS members from Durban North, arrested them at their homes. Lategan said two arrests were made, and then one of the suspects pointed out the third suspect. All were sleeping when arrested. “These arrests made just after midnight on Friday follow the breakthrough arrests of a four-member armed robbery gang by our investigators and SAPS, just the night before. We applaud our investigators for their continuous efforts to bring these criminals and wanted suspects to book.

“A special thanks, again, to Senior Enforce Investigator Sheldin Dauberman for leading the investigation and the operation and the Durban North SAPS for assisting.”
