Learn more about target shooting

KZN Schools Bisley Shooting Association is encouraging local schools to get involved in the sport.

KZN Schools Bisley Shooting Association, the provincial body of South African National Schools Shooting Union (SANSSU), is promoting the sport in all schools in the province.

According to Leoné Eckley, public relations officer for KZN Schools Bisley Shooting Association, she hopes to create further awareness at different schools regarding the sport, to give the pupils an option to join in from 2017 onwards.

“We have schools from all over KZN being part of the sporting body with a current 130 members in KZN and nationally we have about 1300 members. Glenwood High School is one of the schools affiliated to SANSSU. The different age groups range from under 13 to under 21, and the schools partake throughout the year to qualify to go to the national competition held in October each year,” she said.

Leoné said target shooting will teach pupils team work, patience, to work towards a goal, perseverance, focus, comradery and the ability to handle ‘self pressure’.

If your school or sporting co-ordinator is interested in a further demonstration on a Saturday, contact Leoné to arrange demonstrations at the school, on 061 189 0318 or leoneeckley@gmail.com.
