Calling local entrepreneurs

A global entrepreneur organisation is looking for more women members.

THE Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO) is encouraging motivated and driven businesswomen to join its Durban branch.

The EO is a global network of more than 11 000 business owners in 50 countries. The members employ more than 2.4 million people worldwide .

EO's mission is to engage leading entrepreneurs to learn and grow, and by providing a platform that brings these entrepreneurs together, EO eliminates the isolation of those who run businesses. It empowers entrepreneurs to develop as leaders in their businesses and communities by creating opportunities for deep and meaningful transformation.

Well-known Durban businesswoman, Cindy Norcott, joined EO just over a year ago.

“It was a bit intimidating walking into my first meeting surrounded by about 20 male entrepreneurs and finding myself the only female among them. I was sold on joining the organisation in that first meeting. We sat listening to a very colourful and successful entrepreneur share his rags to riches story including all the lessons he had learned along the way. I was mesmerised! I left the meeting feeling like I had finally found my tribe – a group of like-minded high energy entrepreneurs who have an insatiable hunger for personal development,” she said.

Norcott said the past year had been 'incredible' and as a member of EO, she attended a global leadership conference in Bangkok and has attended more than 15 talks by interesting and successful entrepreneurs, business executives and thought leaders.

She said she would like to see the Durban group gain more women members, as well as entrepreneurs of all races.

EO Durban has 24 members and it is anticipated the group will have more than 30 members before the end of the year.

“I have been challenged to think bigger and be bolder and make a greater impact. I would encourage entrepreneurs with stable and successful businesses to consider joining this dynamic group of individuals,” she said.

Durban members are from a variety of industries, including but not limited to property, IT, manufacturing, retail, debt-collection, recruitment, franchising, agriculture and various services businesses. The members are all seasoned entrepreneurs with a wealth of knowledge and a genuine interest in promoting entrepreneurship in South Africa.

The EO hosts learning events every month with renowned speakers.
