St Henry’s honoured with special visitor

Brother Emili Turu visited St Henry's Marist College last month.

ST Henry’s Marist College was very privileged to have a visit from the Superior-General of the Marist Brothers, Brother Emili Turu recently.

As Superior-General, Brother Emili, is the present head of the Marist Brothers and is based in Rome. The title and position of Superior-General can be found among most Catholic orders of priests and brothers and designates the individual who leads the order at a global level. The Superiors-General of these orders are generally based in Rome and usually hold the position for a certain number of years.

This significant visit anticipates the celebrations that will be held next year to mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Marist Brothers and the 150th anniversary of their arrival in South Africa.

Brother Emili spent the three days at St Henry’s touring the campus and getting to know the staff and pupils of St Henry’s Marist College.
