Uzwelo project gains favour

A car service centre in Stamford Hill Road has joined in on the Uzwelo Bags initiative.

THE recently launched Uzwelo Bags initiative is making waves in Durban. Samuels Service Centre, based in Stamford Hill Road, who heard about the upliftment programme which is spearheaded by Expand a Sign identified an opportunity within their business to support the project.

The Uzwelo Bags initiative is made possible by the donation of waste textile fabric from Expand a Sign to teams of underprivileged individuals who are taught to use the fabric to make different types of bags which are then sold online. They are able to earn a living from the bags and the project helps in uplifiting communities.

Samuels Service Centre ordered 200 custom, oil bags. “Every customer that has a service with us receives a complimentary bottle of Veedol Premium Engine Oil that now comes in a unique, one-of-a-kind Uzwelo bag. We are extremely proud to support the talented team of Uzwelo sewers and strongly believe in the entrepreneurial ethos of this wonderful initiative,” said Sven Jurgensen a partner at the service centre.

Tanya Bailey, Uzwelo COO, said: “I encourage other businesses to consider supporting initiatives like Uzwelo Bags that see the community benefiting directly through their support. We all have an opportunity to contribute and make a difference in this beautiful country and all it takes is to care a little bit more today than you did yesterday.”
