GALLERY: Community and business lend a helpful hand at IBV Kids Day

The Durban Exhibition Centre was transformed into a wonderland for thousands of vulnerable children at the IBV Children's VIP Day last weekend.

CLOSE to three thousand children from 38 children’s homes and welfare organisations from the greater Durban area were VIPs for a day at the annual IBV Children’s VIP Day last weekend at the Durban Exhibition Centre.

The children were treated to a full day fun of, treats, games, food and pampering in the company of musicians, DJs and entertainment celebrities as part of IBV Humanities social responsibility CSI programme. Many of the city’s leading corporates, businesses, civic bodies and service organisations joined hands to ensure the day was packed with activities and refreshments to entertain the kids; and they were all kitted out in tracksuits, takkies and t-shirts, and took home books, toiletries and stationery in tog bags.

Wall to wall entertainment on the stage as ell as a talent show for the children children were spoilt for choice. Local and national celebrity performers and actors were also on hand to entertain the kids; including Undivided Roots, Ricky Rick, Gemini Major, DreamTeam, DBN NYTS, Maps Maponyane, Aewon Wolf and Sketchy Bongo in a programme hosted by Darren Maule and Lwandle Ngwenya.

“The organisers are delighted as to the astonishing ongoing response and generosity from corporates, civic organisations, service providers, small businesses and individuals who have come on board and lend their weight to this innovative event to add value to the Children’s VIP Day. We thank you, and we salute you, said a delighted IBV CEO Ashok Sewnarairn.

“It is through the sounds of their laughter and the sights of their smiles, that we will have ultimately achieved the event’s greatest success,” he added.
