School ups security after theft

CURRO Embury College has revised the school's security plan after three pupils were robbed on Wednesday.

CURRO Embury College has beefed up security after pupils were robbed of their cellphones and tablets on Wednesday morning.

According to Joy Smith from CURRO Embury College, three pupils were sitting close to the gate when they were approached by men on the outside who demanded that they hand over their tablets and mobile phones.

“The men were armed, but indicated that they just wanted the goods and did not have the intent to use the guns. The learners are unharmed and will receive the necessary counselling,” she said.

Smith said the safety and security of learners under the school’s care was the school’s primary priority and the school viewed this incident in a very serious light.

“We have revised the security plan at the school with immediate effect,” she said.
