On 24 August, the group will leave for a bus trip at 8am to 3.30pm and focuses on Water from River to Tap, and will be guided by an environmentalist.

The trip starts in Hunt Road. Visit the Palmiet River source, a water treatment plant in Glenwood as well as the Inanda and Hazelmere Dams.

FRIENDS of Sibudu will host a free information morning on the Berea from 10am to noon on Saturday, 20 August about the unique, Middle Stone Age Cave that is situated North of Durban.

Sibudu has been earmarked as a potential National and World Heritage site and is of great cultural, botanical and historical significance.

Besides many unique archeological features found at the Cave, the very rare Natal elm is part of the flora found in the area.

THE South African Writers’ Circle meets on Saturday, 20 August at the Westville Library (Room G4) at 11am.

Kirsten Miller, published and award-winning author will be the guest speaker with a talk entitled Between the Lines. An interactive session will follow which affords everyone the opportunity to sharpen their writing pencils. A book auction will also be held. Visitors are very welcome. Take a plate of eats to share.

THE Dutch Reformed Church Berea, 12 Problem Mkhize (Cowey) Road is hosting its annual fete on Saturday, 27 August starting at 8am

Pancakes, boerewors rolls, pap and wors, curry and rice, cakes and desserts will be on sale. There will also be a white elephant table, live music and a tea garden.
