Seven injured in collision

The police will investigate the cause of an accident at the intersection of Sandile Thusi and Umgeni Roads on Tuesday.

NETCARE 911 paramedics responded to a collision at the intersection of Sandile Thusi (Argyle) and Umgeni Roads on Tuesday night at around 6.30pm.

According to Chris Botha, a taxi collided into the side of an Opel. He said exact details of the cause of the accident are being investigated.

Paramedics arrived and found the intersection littered with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. After the injured were examined they found that a man in his twenties had sustained life-threatening injuries, one person sustained serious injuries while five escaped with minor injuries.

“Paramedics worked fervently at the scene to stabilise the injured. A Netcare advanced life support paramedic placed the critically wounded man on a ventilator before they transported him to hospital. The other patients were treated and then transported to hospital,” said Botha.
