More rain predicted

Motorists are urged to drive with caution as more rain is predicted for today.

MOTORISTS have been warned to exercise caution on the roads today as more rain is expected.

Heavy downpours caused major flooding across the city and province yesterday leaving many people homeless, routes waterlogged and buildings under water.

The municipality’s Tozi Mthethwa says officials will be visible to assist motorists on the roads and other residents in the Metro.

“We ask residents in low-lying areas to be cautious. We have noted flooding in KwaMashu for example and our disaster management team is out in full force observing what is happening and lending a helping hand where it is required,” she said.

The SA Weather service is also predicting heavy snowfall in some parts of the province including Kokstad and Underberg.  The rain is expected to stop by Thursday.
