Icy conditions force road closures

WET and icy conditions are cause for concern for motorists using the N3 Toll Concession between the coast and Johannesburg. Fears are that heavy showers and the cold conditions could see roads ice overnight.

Con Roux of the Toll Concession has advised motorists who are on the roads to avoid travelling at night. Currently the N3 is open but motorists are urged to drive with care. Roux went on to warn motorists to ensure they are well prepared should they face any road closures.  He said it was imperative for motorists to ensure they had food, refreshments and medication should they be caught in a possible road closure.

After heavy snowfalls this weekend, the R617 in Underberg, the R74 near Bergville and the R612 to Impendle were closed due to snow.
