Bus engulfed in flames on Ridge Road

MANY residents on the Berea might have awoken to a loud explosion this morning, which is believed to have come from a bus which caught alight early this morning on Ridge Road near Windmill Road.

While details on how the bus caught on fire are sketchy at this stage, Berea Mail is aware that Life Response 24/7 and RescueCare attended the scene.

Reports indicate only the bus driver was taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Residents in as far as Glenwood and Umbilo could see the clouds of smoke as the bus was completely engulfed by flames.

Meanwhile, a bus and delivery vehicle were involved in a fatal collision on Wednesday afternoon.
