Ironman raises thousands for kids

IRONMAN 4 the Kidz raised R270 000 for Durban charities.

THE IRONMAN 4 the Kidz Charity trust raised R270 000 from the 2016 Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban, an increase of R120 000 on the R150 000 raised in 2015.

The cheque handover was made on 19 June at the Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban Awards Ceremony by the charity trust co-founder, Gary Stephenson, accompanied by IRONMAN 4 the Kidz athletes, John Smit and John Slade.

The IRONMAN 4 the Kidz currently has two Durban based beneficiaries, Bobbi Bear and The Daily News Milk Fund to whom the funds raised will be distributed. Stephenson thanked the athletes for their support and announced that the charity trust would be adding a third charity to their Durban beneficiaries.

A total of 60 athletes raced under the IRONMAN 4 the Kidz Charity Trust banner including John Smit, John Slade, Stefan Terblanche, Ollie Le Roux and Andre Nel. Funds are raised through corporate sponsorship of athletes, the Track an Athlete SMS service and donations.
