Glenwood ex-principal’s fraud case remanded

Glenwood High School former headmaster, Trevor Kershaw, returned to the Durban Commercial Crime Court this morning.

TREVOR Kershaw, former headmaster at Glenwood High School, made a brief appearance in the Durban Commercial Crime Court on Tuesday morning before his matter was remanded.

Kershaw was arrested on charges of fraud on 8 April. The charges related to 1 577 payments to the value of more than R5-million from 2007 to 2015, which were revealed after a forensic investigation at the school.

The former principal was granted bail of R100 000 with strict conditions, which included surrendering his passport, refraining from applying for travel documents, refraining from leaving the province without consent of the investigating officer, reporting to Westville police station twice a week, that he not enter the school property or contact or communicate with staff or governing body members at the school.

Speaking about the appearance, Rob Young, chairman of Glenwood High’s School’s governing body, said, “It is completely out of the school’s hands and in the hands of the NPA. We are waiting for the process to work itself out and await the trial and outcome.”

Kershaw is due to appear again on 28 July.
