Changing lives and realising dreams

A local company is helping people to follow the path that enables them to live their dream life.

TWO Berea residents are running a business that they say is changing the lives of their clients.

Aksokoni da Silva and Sekhem Mkwetshana’s company, UniQoach Consulting, is enabling people to follow their dreams by empowering them using a holistic format to transform and develop their whole being.

Aksokoni said: “We use life, energy, metaphysical and body awareness programmes for clients to attract and align themselves with the natural resources of the universe. We are passionate about our work conducted at both grass-roots community and corporate levels. The development of the knowledge of self is key to our success and mission.”

Growing up as a child both in the western Cape and Durban, and especially under contrasting circumstances and experiences, Aksokoni said she was always passionate about working with others and being part of a team, which gave her a sense of belonging to something bigger and greater than herself.

“Even though my childhood for the most part was very challenging, I still dreamed of and envisioned a brighter future for myself and somehow knew that I would one day serve my community at large, in one way or another. I had an innate passion for developing my mind in many different ways, I knew my mind would be the key to unlocking my future potential,” she said.

Although she worked in the corporate world, she felt she wanted to work with people to resolve their issues, and left her full time job in 2015 to start career as a life and energy-coach.

“I embarked on my career in rural development via the NDAKZN (National Development Agency-KwaZulu Natal) in 2003 and developed a huge respect for the creative potential of many individuals within the various communities in which I served, who, with seemingly so little, were able to tap into their infinite creative potential, in order to enhance and improve their overall lifestyle, and living conditions,” she said.

She said this taught her a great lesson, as well as the critical importance of being able to tap into her own latent potential to consciously create the type of reality that she truly desired, and just as importantly, being able to invoke and inspire others to do the same.

After leaving South Africa for England as a child and completing schooling there, Sekhem began working with various grassroots based community organisations and cultural groups in 1990.

“This facilitated a wide exposure to a variety of African cultures practiced by Africans throughout the diaspora and lead to a deeper fascination with African traditions and indigenous knowledge systems, which are mostly founded on ancient holistic principles.

He returned to South Africa full-time and studied towards a master’s degree in Ethnomusicology and Visual Anthropology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. During the completion of his BA in music and ethnomusicology, he continued performing in music and theatre productions as well as teaching these disciplines at both corporate and grassroots’ levels via workshops, seminars and classes.

“In 2014 I established the Ptah Mayya-Rayay Akademy – The Akademy of Nuwaupian Cultural Arts, Sciences and Indigenous knowledge Systems in Berea, to provide the wider community with a unique range of indigenous holistic services and community-based outreach programmes, mainly focused on expressive performance arts, academia such as Wu-Nuwaup, Right Knowledge and Metaphysics, and holistic health,” he said.

In light of the mutual respect and admiration for each other’s work that both Aksokoni and Sekhem share, as well as collaborative work on two previous projects, it was inevitable that they would eventually work together and devise a project that would serve to complement each other’s very unique gifts, and in turn, provide a wider spectrum of skills and services to offer both existing as well as, potential clients.

UniQoach Consulting was established to provide clients with a unique approach to life and energy coaching, an approach that is designed to address the root cause of a client’s challenges, as opposed to merely managing the symptoms of those challenges.

“We work with clients on physical, emotional, spiritual and mental aspects, and provide them with solar biology or numerology readings, which give answers to questions they have about their lives. It is rooted in science with the emphasis on energy, which, in essence, we are all composed of. Readings helps clients to identify their life purpose and life lesson, which they can then focus on. Ultimately, we want people to be happy, we want them to establish peace and happiness in their lives. We also want to focus on students ready to go into their studies, to help them find their paths,” said Aksokoni.

“Knowing what we and the world are made of is the first step to self-empowerment. We have come to realise that each individual is born on purpose for a purpose. Our main role is to assist individuals in identifying and fulfilling their life’s potential through the expression and sharing of their gifts and talents with the world, in order to reach their full potential, and enable them to also consciously contribute to the upliftment of their communities and society in general. Thus, creating a critical legacy for future generations to thrive and build on,” said Sekhem.
