Church embarks on clean-up operation

Members of the World Mission Church of God took on two clean-up projects in the community during May.

A LOCAL church organisation, the World Mission Society Church of God, is doing its bit to clean up areas around Umbilo.

On Sunday, 22 May, members of the church, who are involved with the International WeLoveU Foundation South Africa in Durban, participated in the 2016 Clean WORLD Movement at Flamingo Court in Umbilo Road, in a bid to make the world a cleaner, better place. The group picked up the trash around the building, and collected about 200kg of garbage in three hours.

According to Samukelisiwe Zungu, the International WeLoveU Foundation believes that love is the key ingredient that will bring happiness and joy to all lives.

“Looking beyond nationality, race, religion and socio-economic status, WeLoveU volunteers share ‘mother’s love’ with local and global neighbours through social welfare projects. These efforts help unite communities, inspire good deeds and motivate change in our world,” she said.

The International WeLoveU Foundation carries out the Clean WORLD Movement in several countries across the world simultaneously to cope with environmental pollution and improve human welfare. At the clean-up, PR Councillor Ms NY Young from EThekwini Municipality said she welcomed the members of the International WeLoveU Foundation South Africa in Durban and their help in cleaning up to make the Durban community environment clean.

On Sunday, 1 May, 35 people from the World Mission Society Church along with residents also participated in a cleanup campaign at Kenneth Gardens in Siphiwe Zuma Road, Umbilo.

Approximately one ton of garbage was collected. The community at Kenneth Gardens were thrilled with the clean-up work by the volunteers of the World Mission Society Church of God in Durban.
