Police caution over misleading flyers

SAPS are not involved in distributing warnings to parents about child smugglers who are offering drug addicts money to help in kidnapping school children.

SOUTH African Police Services has distanced itself from flyers or messages that are circulating on social media, warning parents about child smugglers who are offering drug addicts money to help in kidnapping school children.

Major Thulani Zwane from SAPS said: “We appeal to the community and the parents not to panic and take extra precautions when dealing with such false information. Those addicted to drugs can be referred to rehabilitation centres to get help. We also urge people to refrain from circulating false messages aimed at causing alarm and citing SAPS as the distributors of such.”

He said the police urged parents to take care of their children and know their whereabouts at all times.
