THE nurses at McCord’s Hospital enjoyed a special treat on Thursday, international Nurses’ Day with a special candle-lighting ceremony before sitting down to a delicious lunch and goodie bags.
Guest speaker at the event, DUT lecturer, Dudu Sokhela, gave an inspiring talk on the importance of nurses in society.
McCord staff nurse of eight years, Zama Ngcobo, said the morning’s programme was enlightening. “Being a nurse is a passion and was my dream since I was a child. The talk really empowered us and reminded us of the importance of being a nurse and rendering a good service to our patients. Lunch was also lovely and the goodie bags made us feel very special,” she added.
Sr Rabashani Govender said though it was a busy day, she had to grab her lunch on the go. “Every day is a busy day and that is what nursing is all about, going the extra mile for patients and working with love and dedication.”
