PHOTOS: DUT students launch innovative tech company

Three young DUT students have made their dreams come true with the launch of their IT problem solving company, Wisolve.

THREE innovative Durban University of Technology students have reached the first of many milestones in their young lives with the launch of their problem-solving IT App company, Wisolve.

The young entrepreneurs, made up of third year IT and PR students, Mfundo Ntombela, Nhlaka Mzobe and Terry Mavundla, created Wisolve, which develops mobile applications and websites and is supported by InvoTech Business Incubator based at the Durban University of Technology. Mfundo Ntombela explained, “It all started while doing an IT project for campus, we had to identify problems affecting us and try to solve them using mobile apps. We looked at our Residence House Committee communication notice board, which was not working because not everyone would go to look at it and be upset when they were not aware of important notices. We created a mass SMS communication application which sent all the notices as sms’s so everyone received them, that is where it started and Wisolve was born.”

Thereafter the students realised there were so many everyday problems that could be solved with IT solutions, they formed a group and the rest is history.

The company specialises in Android, IOS, and desktop applications for businesses “Especially now, with mobile devices taking over the desktop applications, we like to focus on mobile Apps. With our content management system, the company’s clients can now manage and update mobile applications with ease,” Ntombela added.

It is the first time in history that people are spending more time consuming web based and native app content on their smart phones than desktop and laptop browsers. Wisolve is committed to providing solutions specifically designed to increase turnover and brand awareness, applications to help businesses engage, inform and impress clients.

“With a mobile app you are literally in your customer’s pocket 24/7. This means you can reach them 24/7 with your product and services also enabling you to engage with them like never before, not leaving out the possibilities of using such technology to limit the uses of day to day paper work and engage in fighting climate change,” said Terry Mavundla.
