Patients evacuated after bomb scare

Reports have come through of a bomb scare at Musgrave Medical Centre.

REPORTS of a bomb scare at the Musgrave Medical Centre have spread on social media, however staff are still awaiting the SAPS bomb Unit to arrive.

Anette Thompson of podiatrists firm, Annette Thompson and Associates said she had returned to her Musgrave Road office from a meeting around 1pm when she found all staff from the building waiting in the car park.

“My colleagues say everyone was evacuated from the building around 11.55am. We are not sure what is happeneing only that there is a scare and we all have to be away and are still waiting for the bomb squad to arrive!” she said.

Thompson said the incident was “outrageous” if it was a hoax. “We have patients who need us, some in wheelchairs, it’s sick that someone could just be playing a joke. The building is full of other podiatrists, doctors, dentists and every day is a busy day. This is so bad for our patients. They really need medical care, some were under anesthetic and in the middle of procedures and had to pick up their things and leave. We just wish we could get our appointment book to call and let our patients know so they don’t have to come all the way here and realise they can’t be seen to,” she said.
