Parabats honour the fallen

KwaZulu-Natal Parabats are invited to attend the annual Airborne Memorial Service in May.

KWAZULU-NATAL Parabats are invited to attend the annual Airborne Memorial Service on 9 May at the Umvoti Mounted Rifles, Highway Association, intersection of Seventh and Pine Streets, Ashley, Pinetown, at 6.30pm for 7pm.

This memorial service is a time when members of the South African Airborne Forces remember their fallen brethren who have died while serving their country since the inception of 1 Parachute Battalion in 1962.

This annual memorial service is being organised by the Parabats Veteran Organisation KwaZulu-Natal Canopy.

Chairman for the organisation, Gavin Moultrie, said: “The Airborne Memorial Service is an opportunity for the Airborne Brotherhood to pay tribute to those paratroopers who fought in conflicts past and present and the many who gave up their lives for their country. Previously there has been a good turnout and we are looking forward to seeing even more this year.”

Those attending need to wear a blazer, medals and berets. No military uniforms.

Cash bar available. Contact Gavin on 082 350 7975.
