Argyle Road, an accident hotspot

Sixteen people have been injured after three separate accidents on Argyle Road on Monday evening.

MOTORISTS are encouraged to exercise caution after collisions near intersections along Argyle Road in Morningside on Monday.

According to Rescue Care’s operations director, Garrith Jamieson, paramedic’s were called to a collision at the corner of Stanger and Argyle Road around 8pm.

“Paramedics arrived to find that three vehicles had collided in the junction. Five people  sustained minor to moderate injuries and were stabilized on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care,” he said.

Just before 9pm, Jamieson said Rescue Care Paramedics were then called to (Windermere) Lillian Ngoyi Road and Argyle Road to the scene of another collision. “This time paramedics found two vehicles had collided in the junction before one of the vehicles veered out of control and collided into a fence. Four people sustained moderate injuries and were stabilised on scene before being transported to  hospital,”  he added.

A third incident occurred around 11pm  when Rescue Care Paramedics responded to an accident at the corner of Umgeni Road and Argyle Road. “Two vehicles had collided in the junction. The vehicles were badly damaged and paramedics found that seven people had been injured with two people sustaining serious injuries. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the injured on scene and once all  had been stabilized they were transported to various hospitals.
