Donate food hampers

Donate food hampers to Durban Child and Youth Care Centre this Easter.

WITH the Easter holidays fast approaching, the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre is tasked with collecting and filling 74 buckets with love and hope for the children to take home while they visit their family.

“The reason behind our buckets of love and hope project is because the majority of children placed in our care are from underprivileged homes. In most cases the bucket of love and hope we send them home with, becomes their only source of survival over the holidays,” said Thina Hlophe, resource developer at Durban Child and Youth Care Centre.

She said with some of the children on Anti-retro viral treatments, the organisation simply could not allow them to miss a meal or take their medication on an empty stomach.

“This food bucket helps to ensure that our kids spend time with their families and get their most basic need met – food. We urge all the community to help in the filling of our buckets of love and hope or contribute towards the purchasing of the food items. Your gift will be used to fill food buckets with essentials like rice, sugar beans, sugar, mealie meal, milk and tinned foods for them to take home these holidays,” she said.
