Musgrave robbers fail to open safe

A Musgrave Centre cellphone shop was broken into in the early hours of this morning.

SHOPPERS, staff and residents in Musgrave were shocked this morning after seeing the chaos left by robbers who tried to rob a cellphone service provider at Musgrave Centre in the early hours of this morning.

According to a police source the robbers bashed and broke down the doors and entered the store around 3am this morning. “The robbers did not manage to get into the safe,” he added.

While the store was temporarily closed this morning, it was business as usual by the afternoon. Shoppers at the busy centre expressed concern over the blatant robbery. “If a busy place like this with security can be targeted and smash the armoured glass, what chance do we have with these criminals,” a woman said.

The cellphone store and Musgrave Centre management were unable to comment at this stage. Berea police are investigating the robbery.
