Weekend road carnage

Carnage on Berea roads this past weekend.

PARAMEDICS were kept on the run this past weekend with a number of incidents in and around the Berea.
The weekend’s carnage began on Friday evening when one person was injured in a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of Umbilo and McDonald Roads. The injured person was stabilised by Rescue Care paramedics before being taken to hospital.

On Saturday evening the driver was trapped inside his vehicle after a partial head-on collision on Owen Avenue in Mayville around 7pm. Rescue Care paramedics found one driver entrapped in the wreckage while the other driver and his two passengers also sustained injuries.
Durban Fire Department arrived to free the trapped driver who was monitored by Advanced Life Support paramedics all the way to hospital. The other three injured were treated and taken to hospital. It is still unclear what caused the collision.
