Jewellery thief nabbed

A man who was trying to rob a jewellery store in the CBD was caught by a security officer.

A JEWELLERY store burglar was too slow for an armed response officer who nabbed him as he emerged from the store empty handed in the early hours of the morning, 1 March.

Blue International managing director Wade Anderson said the company’s armed response officer had responded swiftly to the crime scene in the CBD at 1.08am after the alarm had activated.

“Burglars had pried open the burglar bars and forced their way into the property but they were disturbed when the alarm activated with multiple zones. Our officer responded swiftly to the scene and arrested one of the burglars as he climbed out of a window. ” Anderson said.

The man was handed over to the Durban SAPS and nothing was reported stolen.

Anderson commended the armed response officer’s quick reaction time which led to the arrest.

“We are committed to protecting our clients and their properties and support a range of blue chip retail chains nationally and across our borders providing high-end electronic security systems and rapid armed response,” he said.
