Police are appealing for assistance to find the mother of a baby boy who was abandoned at the Workshop shopping centre this morning.

DURBAN Central police has appealed to the public for assistance in locating the mother of a baby who was abandoned at a shopping centre in the CBD.

According to Constable Zanele Khomo, of the Durban Central SAPS, the mother abandoned the child at The Workshop shopping centre this morning around 10am. “The woman told a man at a car wash to hold her child whilst she went to buy a soft drink but never returned to collect the baby.

“The woman was wearing pink leggings and an animal print long sleeve shirt. The child was wearing a cream vest and denim pants. The child is a baby boy approximately seven months old,” Khomo explained.

Anyone with information on the mother’s whereabouts is urged to call Durban Central Social Crime Prevention unit on 0313254025 or constable Mngonyama on 0721954651 or crime stop number 0860010111.
