Spend a night at the museum

Spend the night at the City museum for a fun learning experience.

THE Municipality’s Natural Science Museum will host A night at the Museum, a special educational sleepover programme, where young children will have the opportunity to learn more about science and biodiversity in a fun and interactive way.

Participants will be expected to spend the night at the Natural Science Museum on Friday, 19 February, from 5.45pm to 8.30am. Throughout the evening, there will be fun activities where participants will explore the different galleries within the museum.

The galleries include the WA Campbell Gallery of Mammals where visitors will see the famous wild buffalo, KwaNunu Gallery where little insects and creepy crawlies are found and the Earth Gallery where you will be taken back to the stone age with fossils and the life size model of the Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur on display. Bird lovers can learn more about the different types of bird species at the PA Clansey Gallery. They will also get to hear and identify the different sounds that wild animals make and get to challenge ancient myths.

The sleepover is a fun way to introduce young children to museums, while also teaching them about science and biodiversity.

Space is limited and is only open to children between the ages of seven to 12 years. Entry is R100 and R80 for friends of the museum, inclusive of a light supper and breakfast.
