THE KwaZulu-Natal Branch of the South African Military History Society will meet on Thursday 11 February at the Murray Lecture Theatre, Department of Civil Engineering, University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard College Campus, at 7pm for 7.30pm.

The speakers will be Donald Davies on “Corporal John Joseph Davies VC near Delville Wood” and Anthony Zabrowski on “The Polish Africans of World War 2”.

STELLA Park Bowling Club will host a Valentine’s dance on Saturday 13 February at 6.30pm.

THE AGM of Life Long Learning KZN is at Seabrooke’s Theatre, Durban High School, on 15 February at 5.30pm for 6pm.

Keynote speaker is Ailsa Windsor of Going Places, who will speak on “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in Movies.”

THE Durban Seniors Social Club invites the community to join its monthly meeting on Wednesday, 17 February at the Berea Congregational Church Hall, entrance in Pardy Gardens Road, off Musgrave Road, at 9am for 9.30am.

This will be a musical morning’s entertainment by guitarist, Ray Ludik, who will take attendees down memory lane with beautiful sing-along music.

Go enjoy a relaxing morning with the group. Entrance is R10 for members and R12 for visitors, which includes tea, coffee and refreshments.

ON 18 February, Life Long Learning will host a TED talk (DVD) on four ways we can avoid a catastrophic drought by Prof David Sedlak, at Musgrave Library, Glenwood Village Market, Hunt Road, from 10.30am to 11.30am. Cost is R20 at the door.

THE Garden and House Plant Club meets at Musgrave Methodist Hall (entrance in St Thomas Road) on the 20 February, the third Saturday of the month, at 2.15pm.

The AGM will be held and there will be a talk about mosses, their uses and contrasts with lichen, with David Tighe’s incredible little Penjing Gardens in mind

THE South African Writers’ Circle meets on Saturday, 20 February at the Westville Library (Room G2) at 11am.

The Circle will hold its AGM followed by a talk by Rob Opie entitled “The Game Changers. Good to great to greater.”
